Zoladex LA Implant (Goserelin Acetate)
What is Zoladex LA Implant (Goserelin Acetate) used for? Zoladex LA Implant (Goserelin) is an anti-cancer medication prescribed for the treatmentof prostate cancer. It has medicinal form of implant in pre-filled syringes. 1 implant contains goserelin acetate 12,50 mg in terms of goserelin 10,8 mg. Zoladex LA Implant (Goserelin) is a synthetic analogue of the natural luteinizing hormone - releasing hormone (LHRH). With the constant use of goserelin 10.8 mg, it inhibits the secretion of the luteinizing hormone by the pituitary gland, leading to a lower serum testosterone concentration in men and estradiol in women. At the initial stage, goserelin 10.8 mg, like other LHRH agonists, may cause a temporary increase in serum testosterone concentrations in men and estradiol in women. Approximately on the 21st day after the first injection, testosterone concentration in men falls to the level of castration and remains low with continued use of the drug every 28 days. Inhibition of the production of testosterone leads to regression of prostate tumors and symptomatic improvement in most patients. In a combined analysis of two randomized controlled trials comparing monotherapy with biculamate 159 mg and castration (mainly in the form of goserelin), no significant difference was observed in the overall survival rate in patients with prostate cancer receiving bicalutamide and in patients were treated in the form of castration (relative risk = 1.05 [SI 0.81 to 1.36]). However, the equivalence of two methods of treatment can not be estimated statistically. How should I use Zoladex LA Implant (Goserelin Acetate)? Always follow your doctor`s instructions when using Zoladex LA Implant (Goserelin) to get the safest and most effective results from treatment. The typical dosage is1 injection every 28 days.
