Amace-BP (Benazepril HCl/Amlodipine)
What is Amace-BP (Benazepril HCl/Amlodipine) used for? Amace-BP is a medication to help reduce high blood pressure (hypertension). It combines Benazepril Hydrochloride (an ACE inhibitor) and Amlodipine Besylate (a calcium channel blocker). Hypertension is cause because the blood vessels are constricted giving the blood less area to pass through and increasing pressure. Amace-BP relaxes these blood vessels. How should I use Amace-BP (Benazepril HCl/Amlodipine)? Amace-BP is offered in blister strip of 10 tablets, each containing 10mg of Benazepril HCl and 5mg of Amlodipine. The most common dosage is one tablet per day, however your doctor may prescribe you a different dosage. What are the side effects of Amace-BP (Benazepril HCl/Amlodipine)? Feeling light-headed or dizzy is a common side effect of Amace BP. This is a result of the decreased blood pressure. It will be more noticable when you stand up or sit up from lying position. If you take your time getting up more slowly it can reduce these feelings. Other side effects you may notice include a dry cough or swelling in your hands feet and ankles. Again, this is a result of the reduced blood pressure. If your heart beat becomes faster than usual, slower than usual or irregular, or you feel unusual muscle weakness tell your doctor immediately. Please Note If you are allergic or hypersensitive to ACE inhibitors or calcium channel blockers, you should not take Amace-BP. Diabetics being treated with Aliskiren should not take Amace-BP. People with heart conditions, kidney problems, liver problems, diabetes, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), scleroderma, or a collagen vascular disease may not be suited to treatment with Amace-BP. |
