Safeheart (Pimobendan)
What is Safeheart (Pimobendan) used for? Safeheart contains the active ingreent Pimobendan (1.25mg or 5mg). It is a vasodilatator used to treat mild, moderate or severe congestive heart failure in dogs. It should only be used to treat heart failure resulting from atrioventricular valvular insufficiency (AVVI) or dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). How should I use Safeheart (Pimobendan)? Pimobendan is available in two dosages:
Most dogs are prescribed a dosage of 0.23 mg/lb (0.5 mg/kg) body weight daily, given as two divided doses. Using your dogs weight as a guide, you can determine which dosage of tablet will be required to give the correct aprroximate dose (using whole and/or half tablets). Safeheart is a oral tablet.
