Vetsulin (Purified Porcine Insulin/Zinc/Sodium Acetate Trihydrate/Sodium Chloride/Methylparaben)
What is Vetsulin (Purified Porcine Insulin/Zinc/Sodium Acetate Trihydrate/Sodium Chloride/Methylparaben) used for? Vetuslin is a form of porcine insulin that can be given to dogs or cats suffereing from diabetes. Each vial contains 10Ml of 40IU/mL porcine insulin. Porcine insulin has the same amino acid sequence as canine insuline. How should I use Vetsulin (Purified Porcine Insulin/Zinc/Sodium Acetate Trihydrate/Sodium Chloride/Methylparaben)? Store Vetsulin upright in a refrigerator before use. Prepare a U-40 syringe then shake well until a the suspension becomes a milky consistency without clumping. Draw the suspension into a syringe and inject into the pet. A starting dosage is 0.5IU of insulin per kg of body weight is usually given for dogs. For cats, a starting does of 1-2IU per injection (twice daily) is given. Only use a U-40 syringe. Using the incorrect syringe can result in incorrect dosages being given. Please Note Vetsulin must not be given to any animals with a pork allergy. Vetsulin is intended for use by dogs and cats only. It is not suitable for human use. Regular checks should be given to make sure glycemic control has been reached. Overdosage can result in hypoglycemia and death in severe cases. |
