Thyro3 (Liothyronine Sodium)
What is Thyro3 (Liothyronine Sodium) used for? Liothyronine Sodium is synthetic version of the thyroid hormone triiodothyronine (T3). It is used to treat hypothyroidism (where the thyroid does not produce enough thyroid hormones). It is also used to treat enlarged thyroid glands (goiters) and Hashimoto's thyroiditis. It can be used alone or in combination with levothyroxine (T4). How should I use Thyro3 (Liothyronine Sodium)? Each tablet contains 25mcg of Liothyronine Sodium. Starting dosages of Liothyronine Sodium usually begin at 5mcg to 25mcg. You will need to check with your doctor, as everybody's starting dose will be different and may need adjusting over time. What are the side effects of Thyro3 (Liothyronine Sodium)? Liothyronine Sodium is generally very well tolerated and has no major adverse side effects. Side effects may be a sign than you have too much or too little thyroid hormone. If you notice any side effects contact your doctor as your dosage may need adjusting. Please Note Hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism both effect how well the body can process and excrete drugs. It is very important to tell you doctor of any other treatments you are taking. Liothyronine Sodium does not cross the placenta easily, and is generally considered safe to use by pregnant women. Likewise, breastfeeding mothers can take Liothyronine Sodium as only a very small amount of thyroid hormone will be found in breast milk. |
